Robert W. Kirby, DC our owner and chiropractic physician, relocated to the Kentucky Bluegrass in 2013 from arctic Alaska and opened ChiroWorks Alternative Pain & Rehabilitation, LLC, with the goal of providing Lexington and surrounding communities the best in qualitative treatment and rehabilitation of injury and disease.
A highly trained Chiropractic Physician, he utilizes chiropractic care and injury rehabilitation to improve the health and wellness in all areas of his patient's lives--whether they are suffering from headaches, back/neck pain, the effects of a motor vehicle accident, workplace injury, fibromyalgia or they just want to start feeling better when they wake up in the morning. Dr. Bob takes a "whole person" approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column and adjacent tissues/structures. Dr. Kirby will perform comprehensive physical and radiographic (x-ray) examination (when appropriate) to determine the root of the pain and create a personalized chiropractic wellness plan to suit each patient's individual needs. Under the supervision and care of Dr. Bob, our caring and skilled chiropractor, patient's report higher functioning, less pain and greater satisfaction in all areas of their lives.

Dr. Robert Kirby is a chiropractor serving Lexington and the surrounding communities in his office on North Broadway Road, across from the Lexington Legends (Appleby's) Ballpark. Though originally from North Carolina, Dr. Kirby has been in and out of Kentucky all of his adult life: while attending Berea College in the late 1970's, serving our country as part of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, beginning Chiropractic practice in Glasgow in 2001 and working as a fill-in while a doctor in Cynthiana had her baby in 2006. He has always considered Kentucky a second home and after returning from 5 years of practice in the remote Arctic town of Barrow, Alaska, he decided to return to the Bluegrass State and purchase the former Wilson Chiropractic office on North Broadway in Lexington, which became ChiroWorks Pain & Injury Treatment Center, dedicated to chiropractic solutions that target your unique needs-- whether you are suffering from back pain, neck pain, headaches, or even just plain old muscular tightness and tension. He has over 35 years of healthcare experience. Before returning to school to study Chiropractic, he worked in hospitals and trauma centers all over the world as a Radiographer. A decorated veteran, “Dr. Bob" holds national certifications in not only Chiropractic but in Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release, Injury Rehabilitation, Radiologic Technology and Emergency Medical Technology (EMT-B). Dr. Kirby has additional training in Whiplash treatment, Occupational Health, and Deep Tissue Pain Management. He is trained to perform DOT and Coast Guard Exams, Sports Physicals and Independent Medical Examinations and Disability Determinations.
Unfortunately, after a life of adventure, sports and the hard work of direct patient care, Dr. Kirby suffered a severe back injury, while working in Alaska, that almost ended his career. The remoteness of his home and clinic meant that there was no other Chiropractor for 500 miles. He knows this lack of available, quality Chiropractic care led to his living in severe chronic pain for the 6 years since. Even the 5 spinal surgeries he has had since only worked temporarily. Fortunately, he now gets the care he needs that allows him to continue to practice the art and science of Chiropractic. His injury and pain do, however, give him an empathy with and understanding for those who struggle daily with chronic pain. He knows how just tying your shoes in the morning can be excruciatingly difficult when you suffer back pain. He knows the misery caused by an arthritic shoulder or knee...and he is ready to help you fight through your pain and make it out of the dark tunnel that it casts you in.
You may need pain relief after suffering an accident, experiencing an injury, or if you have a specific condition such as chronic back pain, frozen shoulder, a degenerative, arthritic spinal condition or fibromyalgia. Even if you just want to improve your overall health with wellness care, Dr. Kirby can help you achieve your goals. Call Dr. Bob today and take charge of your pain!
